Sophia Kacimi is a French-Moroccan creative working at the intersection of craft, fashion, interior design and art. She is the founder of Zoubida, a multidisciplinary practice rooted in play, colour and material experimentation.
Developed through close collaborations with Moroccan artisans and educational initiatives for younger generations, Zoubida operates as a laboratory for contemporary craft, reactivating traditional handwork in decline through bold and unexpected applications. At the core of Kacimi’s practice are jacquard upholstery fabrics—central to Moroccan domestic life—transformed into expressive art-to-wear and art-to-use pieces that balance function and visual impact.
A former merchandiser for Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Burberry, Kacimi brings a sharp understanding of luxury systems to a craft-led, socially engaged practice. She runs regular university workshops in Morocco, particularly in Fes, reconnecting students with traditional making processes.
Winner of the 2024 Craft & Commitment Prize and the 2025 Creative Entrepreneur Prize from the Institut du Monde Arabe, Sophia Kacimi represents a new generation of Moroccan creative entrepreneurs.
